The Princess and the Princess

Performance Camp

Auditions: May 27, 2:30-4:00pm
Note - Auditions are just to assign parts. If you sign up, you're automatically in the camp and will receive a speaking role! If you CANNOT attend auditions, just let us know. You can still participate in camp!

Camp Dates: June 5-9, 1:00-4:00pm
Performance: June 9, 7:00pm

(students will stay all day on Friday until performance)
$200

The Princess and The Princess tells the story of Popplepea, a poor polite princess, and Twinkleberry, a rich rude princess, who meet on a narrow mountain path and neither will move to let the other one pass.  Everyone who tries to help gets stuck up there on the mountain with them. After a riddle provided by the Royal Wise Person proves both princesses are "real", it is Popplepea who graciously steps aside - not because she has to, but because she so chooses.

During this week-long camp, students will put together a full production. They will end the week in a performance for friends and family to attend.

Here's a little bit about what to expect:

  • Play improv games with other campers and improve your creative-thinking abilities.

  • Increase your onstage presence by learning how to create a believable character.

  • Learn about stage design (set/costumes/props) by helping to prepare for the production.

  • Enjoy theme days each day of camp (pajama day, crazy socks day, etc.).

  • Speaking roles for each student.

  • Performance for friends and family to attend on Friday at 7pm.

  • All costumes provided (with the exception of personal items such as tights/tank tops/etc).

  • Storybook Theatre camp production tshirt.

  • Auditions prior to camp so that campers have time to memorize lines for the performance.

  • 2 free tickets per student for their performance.

  • Additional tickets are $8 each. Invite as many friends/family members as you want!

  • Each Storybook performance is a group effort and we need YOUR help to make everything come together! Parent volunteer positions will include options like selling tickets or concessions, donating items like water bottles/tissues/paper towels, etc. A signup will be emailed prior to the beginning of camp so that you can select the best way for your family to contribute to the production!

Directing & Behind the Scenes

Teen Camp

Camp Dates: July 24-28, 12:00-4:00pm

(Students will stay on Friday to assist with a 4pm performance; should be done by 5:30-6:00pm)
$175

Join the production crew in this hands-on camp experience, where our teen students will get to be heavily involved in directing the production(s) happening during our younger students' American Girl camp! Teens will learn what goes into the creative process behind directing as they experience a whole production start to finish in one week: auditions, casting, blocking/staging, rehearsals, polishing, costuming, adding props and set, and finally: watching the performance live onstage! There will be other elements of behind the scenes work incorporated throughout the week as needed.

Teens will receive 2 free tickets to the Friday performance for parents to attend and watch their hard work come to life. Additional tickets may be purchased at the door for $5.

Registration Deadline: July 17
