Directing & Behind the Scenes

Teen Camp

Camp Dates: June 17-21, 12:00-4:00pm

(Students will stay on Friday to assist with a 4pm performance; should be done by 5:30-6:00pm)
$175

Join the production crew in this hands-on camp experience, where our teen students will get to be heavily involved in directing the production(s) happening during our younger students' American Girl camp! Teens will learn what goes into the creative process behind directing as they experience a whole production start to finish in one week: auditions, casting, blocking/staging, rehearsals, polishing, costuming, adding props and set, and finally: watching the performance live onstage! There will be other elements of behind the scenes work incorporated throughout the week as needed.

Teens will receive 2 free tickets to the Friday performance for parents to attend and watch their hard work come to life. Additional tickets may be purchased at the door for $5.

Registration Deadline: June 15

Puffs (One Act for Young Wizards) Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic

Camp Dates: July 1-3 & 5, 9:00am-4:00pm

(Students can stay on Friday until their 7pm show, or take a short break away from 4:00-5:30pm)

Auditions:
June 15, 10:30am-12:00pm

Performances:

July 5, 7pm
July 6, 2pm & 7pm

$275

For seven years a certain boy wizard went to a certain Wizard School and conquered evil. This, however, is not his story. This is the story of the Puffs... who just happened to be there too. A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world.

Campers should bring:

-a sack lunch and adequate snacks each day (no peanut products please)

-closed toed shoes

-refillable water bottle

Here's a little bit about what to expect:

-Learn, rehearse, and perform an entire production in less than a week!

-Learn about stage design (set/costumes/props) by helping to prepare for the production.

-Enjoy theme days each day of camp (pajama day, crazy socks day, etc.).

-Campers are expected to turn phones in at the beginning of each day and only retrieve them on breaks or at day's end.

-3 Performances for family/friends to attend (students MUST be available for all performances)

-All costumes provided (with the exception of items you probably already own at home).

-Storybook Theatre camp production tshirt.

-Optional pizza for dinner on Friday/Saturday (signup will be sent later, $5 per student per day)

-2 free tickets per student for their performance.

-Additional tickets are $8 each. Tickets may be purchased in advance at rehearsal or via Storybook Theatre's website (link will be available closer to performance).

Each Storybook performance is a group effort and we need YOUR help to make everything come together! Parent volunteer positions will include options like selling tickets or concessions, donating items like water bottles/tissues/paper towels, etc. A signup will be emailed prior to the beginning of camp so that you can select the best way for your family to contribute to the production!

Little Women

Teen Production

Directed by Jessica Luke

$275

Note: you can't do both this and The Wizard of Oz; all the rehearsals conflict with each other.

This is the "Storybook Classic" version which features a small all-female cast.

The play begins that memorable Christmas when Marmee leaves to visit her sick husband and Jo sells her beautiful hair to help finance the trip. It ends just a year later when the happy family is again preparing to celebrate not only Christmas but also the return of Mr. March. In between these two events, we again live, laugh, love and cry with Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth as they go through the many trials and tribulations that have made this story a classic.
