Frequently asked questions

Are classes in-person?
YES!

Where is Storybook Theatre now?
We have a new partnership with Country Meadows Baptist Church (4901 Lees Summit Road, Kansas City, MO 64136). It is close to the intersection of 40 Highway and Lees Summit Road in Independence! MOST classes will take place at this location; however, please read each class's description as there will occasionally be alternates (the musical theatre camp this summer is the main thing that this affects).

Are masks required?
Jackson County's mask mandate was rescinded on May 18, 2021. Storybook welcomes participants with or without masks or facial coverings. We recognize that there are many levels of comfort regarding this and are happy to offer several weeks of summer camp productions for any groups that would like to book a private camp experience where masking or non-masking guidelines can be decided by the participants. Please contact us for more details.

Do I need to stay during my child's classes?

We have an open-door policy and do allow parents to stay if this makes a performer or their family more comfortable. However, we do find that students respond best when they do not have a parent audience during rehearsals. As such, we will provide a waiting area for parents if desired, but it may be outside our rehearsal room. For full-studio productions (i.e. Wizard of Oz), there will be a required parent sign-up to take turns monitoring backstage during technical rehearsals and performances.

Where will performances take place?

Live, in-person performances will be held at Country Meadows Baptist Church (4901 Lees Summit Road, Kansas City, MO 64136).

What's your refund policy?
Students who begin a multiple-week class or production and are not able to attend a portion or a remainder of the class will unfortunately not receive a refund or makeup session. In the event that Storybook Theatre cancels a class during the session due to unforeseen circumstances, every effort will be made to provide a make-up session or studio credit to offset the fee. If the minimum number of students is not reached for your class and you are not able to transfer to a different class time, a full refund will be given.
