Who can audition:
Auditions are open to youth ages 4-18. Storybook Theatre students are encouraged to participate, but the production is not limited to those who have been involved here in the past; you may audition even if you have never worked with us before.
What if I'm not available for these audition dates?
Contact us to make alternate arrangements. You may also submit a virtual audition video to directorjewels@gmail.com (submissions after June 8 will not be considered).
I'm participating in a Storybook Theatre Summer Camp. Can I still audition?
If you have signed up to participate in another Storybook Theatre class during the summer 2021 semester, you are still welcome to audition for this production.
What to Expect at Auditions:
1. Sign up for a 10-minute audition slot. Signup for your time HERE.
2. Prepare a 1-2 minute dramatic or comedic monologue and be prepared to recite it at auditions. We may also ask you to read a scene from the show. Note that this is a play, not a musical - no singing/dancing are required at this audition. Please be prepared to show us lots of character!
3. Fill out the Audition Form (include ALL conflicts from June 8-July 24).
4. Arrive at audition location at least five minutes prior to your scheduled time. You may be called to audition one at a time or in small groups. Auditions are closed (parents/guardians may wait in our waiting room during your audition).
5. Callback list will be emailed to participants, and posted on Storybook's website. If you are not called back, this does NOT mean you have not been cast in the production. Please check the website on Friday, June 11 for the cast list. It will also be sent via email.
Please realize that this production has a large time commitment. It will require character work and dedication on the part of every individual who is cast in the show.
Tentative Rehearsal Schedule:
Note that everyone will NOT be called to all rehearsals. We will NOT call cast members unless they are needed – with the exception of lead roles (Dorothy/Scarecrow/Tin Man/Lion/etc), who will be needed at MOST rehearsals. Please bring ALL conflicts to auditions so that we can plan the best schedule based on availability.
These dates and times are subject to change as we realize production needs.
