Fall 2009 Class Registration Information (8-12)

Dear American Girls & Families,

I don’t know about you, but for me – WOW, has this summer flown by!! As I write this, I’m mentally preparing for the AGDT performance this coming Saturday…I hope to see some of you there!

For any newcomers who may be reading this, here’s a little background info about AGDT. This fall will be the 13th semester of AGDT classes - to date, 80 girls have been involved in 35 different productions! AGDT is aimed at girls ages 8 and up (if your daughter’s 8th birthday falls during the current class, then she can participate). The class time is spent rehearsing a play which will be performed at the end of the eight-week class for family and friends to see.

I am happy to offer 2 Monday classes this semester:

Monday A (1:00-2:30pm) – Little House on the Prairie: Country Girls – Based on the episode of the same title from the popular Little House TV show, this play tells the story of Mary and Laura’s first day (and weeks following) at the Walnut Grove School. Character opportunities include – Laura, Mary, Ma, Miss Beadle, Nellie Olson, and Christy. There are 5 spaces in this class.

Monday B (2:30-4:00pm) – Friendship & Freedom – Published by American Girl, this play is based on the book Addy Learns a Lesson by Connie Porter. Addy’s first day of school (and weeks following) are shown, and she and Addy learns some valuable lessons about the costs of friendship. Character opportunities include – Addy, Sarah, Miss Dunn, Harriet, Mama, and Mavis. There are 5 spaces in this class.

The classes will begin on September 14 and run weekly through November 2. While it’s not a requirement, it would be best for everyone involved if the full class can attend the first practice on September 14. This will be the day we pick parts for the play and I don’t want anyone to be unhappy with the part they receive if they miss the first class.

The plays will be performed at Faith Baptist Church, and the 8th rehearsal (last week of the class, November 2) will be at the church as well. The performance of all three plays will be on Saturday, November 7, at 7:30pm. The girls will need to arrive at the church at 2:00 pm for a final dress rehearsal on the day of the play. We will have dinner and have time to do everyone's hair and makeup before it's showtime!

Classes will be held at my house in Lees Summit, less than a mile from Faith Baptist Church. I will send directions to the enrolled students' families before the classes begin.

Pricing is as follows: $75 for one daughter, $70 each for two daughters, $65 each for three or more daughters. The full class fee is required with registration (if this is a problem, let me know and I’m sure we can work something out – it is a requirement due to problems I have had in past semesters). Your registration and payment will hold your space in the class. It will be especially important this fall to send in your registration/payment soon, as the number of spaces is limited and will be filled first-come, first-serve, in the order I receive the registrations. You can still email/call to ask about availability, but I can't hold spaces without your registration. Register by August 22 and receive $5 off your total cost.

To register for the class, please send me your email address so that I can get you the registration form. You can email me at directorjewels@yahoo.com or leave a message on this post and I'll get back to you soon!

Please send in your registration/payment ASAP to reserve your spot. The registration deadline is Saturday, September 5.

Thanks! Julie
